Dr. Tanya Skalecki, relocated to Wisconsin in 2020 from Grand Junction Colorado where she was the Chief Executive/Financial Officer/ Executive Director (CEO/CFO/ED) at a civil rights agency. In her previous role as the CEO, she worked with legislators, executives, school districts, parents, individuals, and communities to ensure civil rights are upheld for individuals with disabilities. Dr. Skalecki’s professional experiences consist of Special Education Teacher, Director of Special Education, Principal, Executive Director/Assistant to the Superintendent, and CEO at a Civil Rights Agency.  She received her undergraduate degree in Vocational Rehabilitation with a concentration in Special Education, a master’s degree in Education/Administration Leadership, and her doctorate in Law. Dr. Skalecki has been blessed to have worked as an adjunct professor for nine (9) years, teaching courses and serving as a content expert in designing many graduate-level courses.  She is excited to be an adjunct instructor for the Professional Studies Department as it has been her goal to give back to future leaders. As a special education teacher, Dr. Skalecki was honored in 1999 as “Teacher of the Year”, in 2016, received the “Outstanding Faculty of the Year” award from Colorado Christian University, and in 2020-21, received the “Students’ Choice for Outstanding Teaching in an Online Program Award from UW-Superior.
