Course Description

Making decisions in a dynamic fast-paced business environment is a challenge for most employees. Decision making and problem solving skills become critical when moving into leadership roles in order to drive business growth. Leaders with a developed system for effective decision making are best equipped to lead their teams through times of uncertainty.

In this program, participants will learn to use the Vroom model for decision making to determine how to maximize their decisions at work.  They will learn to examine each decision-making situation in order to determine the extent to which their direct reports and associates should be involved in the decision. Participants will receive detailed feedback which allows them to examine their own “natural” style and determine methods to maximize the benefits of involving their employees in business decisions.  “Maximizing” means choosing the decision-making process that produces the best possible decision alternative with the best chances of effective implementation.  Taken into account are the importance of time, decision quality, implementation, and employee development.

Vroom Assessment

All participants must complete a pre-program decision making assessment. The assessment consists of 30 brief scenarios which will take approximately 90 minutes to two-hours to complete. We recommend completing the assessment in two separate sittings. The assessment is critical to participation in the workshop and must be completed in advance. Failure to complete the assessment will result in the inability to fully engage and benefit from this program.

Certificate in Leadership

Executive Decision Making and Leadership is one of six open enrollment leadership programs. Programs are presented on a rotating basis throughout the year with completion of four programs resulting in a Certificate in Leadership from Wake Forest Executive Education and the School of Business’ Allegacy Center for Leadership and Character.
