Biography

I have experience in teaching, clinical practice, and leadership. I received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Maryland at Baltimore in my home state of Maryland and worked in Shock Trauma and in the University of Maryland Medical Center’s Coronary Care Unit. I then moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and received an MHA from UNC. While in school, I worked as a nursing supervisor. I chose the MHA to gain a broader perspective on healthcare administration. My focus was quality management, and my internship was with the Hospital Corporation of America in Nashville with the corporate quality improvement department. I moved to Akron, Ohio, and worked as the Nursing Director of the Coronary Care Unit at MetroHealth Medical Center and then in Professional Development at Akron General until I received my Ph.D. from Kent State University. I moved to Wilmington, NC, to become a faculty member at the UNCW School of Nursing. I like to make my online courses user-friendly, innovative, and applicable. I enjoy teaching interprofessional students, and I look forward to contributing to the learning of the next generation of MHA/MHI students.
