There’s plenty of excitement heading into the holiday break – final assignments, spring registration, and holiday preparations.
The to-do list can feel long, but a little planning and looking ahead can help you finish the semester strong and set yourself up for success in the new year.
Here are five key things we recommend Wake Forest SPS students keep in mind as we approach the end of the fall semester.
1. Finish Strong! Classes End December 18th.
The end is near. Classes officially wrap up on December 18th, so now is the time to give it your all. As you prepare final projects and papers, remember that every effort counts. Stay organized, lean on your support network, and take it one step at a time.
The hard work you’re putting in now will pay off, so stay focused and finish strong!
2. If You Haven’t Already: Register for Spring Classes
Spring semester kicks off on January 6th.
Some course sections are already filling up so be sure to make this a top priority before the semester ends. Securing your spot now means you’ll get the schedule and courses that best fit your goals and availability.
Go to Workday Student to register. Need Help? Talk with your Student Success Manager or visit this job aide or contact spsreg@wfu.edu.
If you’re unsure about which courses to take, connect with your Student Success Manager for guidance—they’re here to help you create a plan that aligns with your professional and academic aspirations.
3. Look Ahead to Next Semester’s Courses
To help you hit the ground running, courses will open in Canvas one week before the semester starts (December 30th). This is your chance to preview course materials, review syllabi, and start planning your workload.
Take a moment during the break to set goals for the semester ahead. Whether it’s improving time management, exploring new topics, or building connections within your learning community, a little preparation now can make a big difference in how you start the year.
4. For New Students: Join a Meet & Greet!
First off, if you’re a new student joining us in the spring – welcome to the Wake Forest SPS family!
To help you settle in, we’re hosting three virtual Meet & Greet sessions. These are great opportunities to meet fellow students, ask questions, and get a feel for what the Wake Forest SPS community has to offer. They’re not just informative but also a fantastic way to start building connections with your peers and the faculty who are here to support your journey.
Look for calendar invites in your inbox and mark your schedule to attend one of these Zoom sessions:
- Wednesday, December 11th at 7pm (ET)
- Monday, December 16th at Noon (ET)
- Thursday, January 2nd at 8pm (ET)
5. Make Enjoying Your Break a Priority
The holiday season is a time to recharge, reflect, and reconnect with the people who matter most. However you celebrate, we hope you take this time to be present with your family and friends.
Remember, self-care is just as important to academic success as studying. You’ve worked hard all semester, and you deserve this time to rest and enjoy. That way you’ll feel refreshed and ready to tackle the spring semester in the new year.

From all of us at Wake Forest School of Professional Studies, we wish you a joyful holiday season and a bright start to the new year.
Thank you for being part of our community, and we’ll see you in 2025!
